Santorini Airport (JTR)

Santorini airport is located in the southeastern part of the island, near Agia Paraskevi. To the south is Kamari and to the north is the village of Monolithos. The airport is located about 5 km from the capital of the island, which is Fira.

There are direct flights to Santorini from Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion Airport. The flight duration from Athens is about 45 minutes, from Thessaloniki 90 minutes and from Heraklion just 30 minutes. Furthermore, you can fly from Santorini to other Cycladic islands as well, while during summer around 200,000 tourists arrive in Santorini via charter flights from abroad. Santorini Airport was built in 1972 and its buildings followed the rules of traditional Cycladic architecture. Since then, however, the ever-increasing requirements of increasing traffic (2,254,926 passengers in 2018), lead to the modernization of the small airport. 

The terminal building was built in 1989. Santorini airport has, among other services, a duty-free shop, restaurants, cafes and many travel and car rental agencies. During the winter, it mainly serves flights from Athens airport and Thessaloniki with Olympic and Aegean Airlines. 

Santorini airport is the eighth busiest airport in Greece with nearly 2.5 million  passengers.

Santorini Airport operates from 1972 and is located 10 minutes by car from the centre of the city of Fira.

 During the summer, the airport has many international flights and charters from a lot of European airports. Santorini Airport or Santorini International Airport with JTR as its IATA code, is a small airport, as is Santorini itself anyway. Santorini Airport is the largest one of the southern Aegean sea and operates also as a military aircraft base..

Transportation

Santorini Airport Buses: The airport is served by the KTEL of Santorini and is connected by regular bus services to Fira.

The starting point of the buses is located between the buildings of the arrivals and departures.

Santorini Airport is located in the eastern and central part of the island. It is only 6km away from the capital, Fira.

From the northernmost side of the island, the picturesque settlement of Oia, the airport is about 17 km away, and from the southernmost side, the settlement of Akrotiri, is about 17 km away as well.
